Cowgill is a small town located in the northern part of Missouri, in Caldwell County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.22 square miles (0.57 km²). As of the 2010 census, the population of Cowgill was 188.
The town was named after J.W. Cowgill, who owned the land on which the town was built. Cowgill used to be an important railroad town in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as several railroad lines passed through the town.
